What do I need to use the Practice Room?

A web browser on a computer, iPad or phone. There is nothing to install. For the tuner and for recording takes, the browser will ask to use your microphone.

Is the free plan really free?

Yes. The metronome, tuner, drone and slow-downer, full practice sessions, recording takes and the free pieces are free for good, with no card needed.

How does the free trial work?

Premium is free for 14 days. A card is required, but nothing is charged today. If you do not cancel during the trial, your subscription starts when it ends. Cancel during the trial and you pay nothing. One free trial per account.

How much practice history do I see?

On the free plan, Practice history shows the sessions from the last 7 days. Your older sessions are kept, not deleted, and Premium shows your whole history, synced across your devices.

How do I cancel?

From the billing portal on your account page, any time, in two clicks. Cancel during the trial and you are never charged; you keep Premium until the trial's last day. Cancel a paid subscription and you keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Monthly to yearly, yes: from the billing portal, once your trial has ended. The unused part of your month is credited against the yearly price, and you see the exact amount before you confirm. Yearly to monthly is not offered: cancel at the end of your yearly period and subscribe monthly afterward. You keep full access until then.

What music is included?

The full library has 63 pieces and is growing: scales and arpeggios, etudes by Dotzauer and Popper, the Bach suites, and repertoire pieces, from beginner to intermediate. Nearly all of them come with my own cello recordings, and the pieces written with piano come with the piano accompaniment to play with. New pieces are added regularly.

Can I practice my own music?

Yes. You can add a MusicXML or MXL file from MuseScore or a similar program, which comes in exactly as written. You can also scan a PDF of your cello part (Beta): 10 pages a month on monthly, 12 on yearly, 2 during the free trial. Lines that look wrong are checked by AI. Your own scores live in the browser on the device where you added them. A scanned page is read on my server, and for the AI check its notes are kept there until your device has taken the result, no longer than 7 days, as the Privacy Policy explains. Does the app listen to me and follow my playing?

No. The score plays along and the cursor shows where the music is, and you play along with it. The tuner listens to a single sustained note.

Yes, with any YouTube video: loop a passage from A to B, slow it down with the pitch kept, and count your reps.

Are my recordings private?

Yes. Your recordings stay on your own device and are never uploaded; I never receive them. Every take has a download button so you can keep the ones that matter to you.

Yes. With Premium, your practice sessions sync across your devices. Your recordings and your own scores stay on the device where you made or added them.
